Bio im alex. i go to art school at the university college for the creative arts.... in maidstone (which is in kent, the armpit of sunny Great Britain) its fun!!! im speciallising in printmaking atm, mainly etching, but i like fine art, (specially the wacky looking stuff that sometimes gets mistaken for rubbish and thrown away) and so quite often i cross over into drawing & painting, and sculpture. I LOVE landart. i also like abstract and surreal illustration. I'm working on illustrations for childrens books (exsisting stories and my own), but ones that push the boundaries, often having dark & sometimes lurid undertones and rather morbid details. with this stuff, i want to create illustrated work maybe for an older audience, coz i think beautiful books packed full of illustrations for older kids are in quite short supply. and the ones that do exsist tend to be rather bog standard and boring. when i was 9-12ish i remember wishing there were books like that around XD. fairy tales are in the main taken so lightly nowadays, but before they were softened up and disneyified they were often dark, with warning and morals, for all ages contained within,,,they could also be seen as metaphors on life and what you should strive to schieve, keep away from etc. i don't agree with everything he said, but i like analysin fairystorys using freuds methods heheh! incredibly geeky yes, but I DONT CARE XD its fun :P ive wafled on forever. mwahaha. well, except for art, i like clubbing, dancing, ANY music (but my favourites remain rave, trance, folk and rock), drinking whiskey& BEER, festivaling, random clothes!, browsing charity shops (one day ill find a magic lamp or something XD), walking around aimlessy in a town or a wood. YAY!, writing, reading. i love fantasy and sci fi stuff. i hate the way people are so arrogant and stupid about it. its some of the best, most creative work out there (in art, writing, whatever!). i think lord of the rings is an amazing story. i had read to me when i was only little, and then read it myself many times, and just fell in love with it, and all of tolkiens work. its so intricate and detailed, and the characters and the world are so carefully thought out, so lovingly constructed. the films are good as far as they go, but theyre like a brief (and in placed extremely SCREWED UP) overview. (i mean, "crumbs on fat ones jacket!", and RUINING faramirs character... ARGH!! what was peter jackson thinking! Tolkien would be turning in his grave!!!!!!!!) rant over. hehe anyway thats quite enough from me. ill leave you too it. id be dead chuffed it you leave me comments, i want to know what people think of my stuff. constructive critism is most welcome and helpful, but please don't be rude. thats just sillyXDDDD. thanks for listening! xxxxx Random Artwork
